Local Favourites for Mother's Day

Events Gifts Mothers Day Scottish Traditions Shop Local

Can you believe it? It’s March already! We are so happy to see the return of longer, warmer, and sunnier days. Never mind the lambs; we certainly have a spring in our step.

Mother’s Day is just a few weeks away now, so we thought we would share some of our favourite ideas for a day out locally with Mum.

  1. Abbotsford House
The Historic home of Sir Walter Scott, Abbotsford house, is perfect for relaxing a few hours together, wandering through the beautiful gardens or along the riverside trails. Then, you can treat Mum to an Afternoon Tea in Ochiltree’s restaurant. It’s worth watching their website for any Mother’s Day specials too.

  1. Cardrona Hotel and Spa.
If you’re looking for an extra special treat for Mum (and you), then a Spa treatment for two might be the perfect way for you both to relax and unwind. Afternoon Tea here is also an option, or you could take your pick from the menus in one of their bars or the restaurant.
  1. Dawyck Botanic Garden
These beautiful gardens are a bit of a hidden gem in the Borders. With plants and flowers starting to benefit from the warmer and longer days, Mother’s Day is the perfect excuse to visit and take a stroll. The on-site Café provides the ideal opportunity to stop and have a treat or three too.
  1. A Day at Home
If you prefer a quiet day, we think there is nothing more special than inviting Mum around and cooking her favourite meal. It’s a great way to get the grandkids involved too and a lovely way for them to do their bit to treat you, bonus!
